Circuito I: Sur de Londrés, South Bank

Hace unas semanas me dió por salir a dar una vuelta por la zona de alrededor del lugar donde vivo,  y acabé haciendo turismo y muchas fotos, ¡cómo no!!. En la zona sur del centro de Londrés se puede hacer un circuito de un aproximadamente un día, ¿me acompañan?.
A few weeks ago I was walking around the area where I live and I finished making many photos, how not!. In the south  of Central London you can make a one day tour, would you like to go with me?.

Since London Bridge

1. Comenzando desde el London Bridge  pueden parar a hacer unas fotos del Tower Bridge, que muchas veces es confundido con el anterior. Se puede apreciar desde aquí también la Torre de Londrés.

1. Starting from the London Bridge, you can stop to take some pictures of Tower Bridge, which is often confused with the previous. It can be seen from here the Tower of London as well.

Southwark Cathedral

2. Catedral de Southwark. La verdad es que no me resultó, personalmente, nada especial. Mucho más impresionante la catedral de St Paul. Había un restaurante español que ofrecían paella, pintxos y otros platos españoles que tenía terraza y no tenía mala pinta.
2. Southwark Cathedral. The truth is that I didn´t like it so much. Much more impressive is St Paul Cathedral. There was a Spanish restaurant offering paella, tapas and other Spanish dishes that had terrace and looked nice.
3. Borough Market. Mercadillo de comida de todo el mundo de unos 70 stands, sobre todo de frutas y verduras. Abierto de jueves a sábado, aunque es el sábado cuando hay más gente.

3. Borough Market. Worldwide food market with 70 stands, especially fruits and vegetables. Open from Thursday to Saturday, although Saturday there are more people.

The Golden Hinde
4. The Golden Hinde. El galeón del famoso corsario Sir Francis Drake, conocido por su circunavegación del globo terráqueo entre 1577 y 1580. Se encuentra en un pequeño muelle sobre el río Támesis y se puede visitar: 6 libras Adultos, 4 libras Niños (4 a 15 años), 18 libras Familia (de 4) y 4.50 libras Concesiones.

4. The Golden Hinde. The galleon of the famous privateer Sir Francis Drake, known for his circumnavigation of the globe between 1577 and 1580. It is located on a small pier on the Thames River, and you can visit it: £6 Adults, £4 Children (4-15 years), £18 Family (4) and £4.50 Concessions.

5. El museo de la prisión «the Clink». Una antigua importante prisión reconvertida en museo que funcionó desde el siglo 12 hasta 1780. Entradas: Adultos 7.50 libras, Niños 5.50 libras, Familia 18 libras y Concesiones 5.50 libras.

Shakespeare’s Globe

6. El teatro «Shakespeare’s Globe». Construido en 1599 por Peter Street. Acogió a la compañía teatral the «king men» donde participaba el famoso dramaturgo Shakespeare, al que debe su nombre. Fue reabierto en 1997 respetando las formas de su antigua edificacion. Por cierto, las escenas del teatro en la película «Shakespeare in love» no fueron rodadas la mayoría en este teatro, sino en «The Rose theatre«, de la época isabelina y que se encuentra muy cerca de éste.

6. The Shakespeare’s Globe theatre. Built in 1599 by Peter Street. Theatre Company hosted the «king men» which involved the famous playwright Shakespeare. It was reopened in 1997 respecting the forms of his previous edification. Incidentally, the theatre scenes in the movie «Shakespeare in Love» were not filmed mostly in this theater, but in The Rose theater in the Elizabethan era and it is located very close to this.

7. Tate Modern. Museo nacional de arte moderno. Entrada y wi-fi gratuito. En el 2007, fue el museo de arte moderno más visitado del mundo y el tercero más visitado en general. Cuenta con obras de artistas del siglo XX como Picasso, Warhol o Dalí.

Terminé mi tour en la Tate Modern, pero se puede continuar la visita cruzando el puente del Millenium, que está justo en frente de este museo, y continuar hacia la  Catedral de St Paul y de la zona de la City. Otra opción es hacerlo en sentido inverso y acabar en el Tower Bridge con visita a la Torre de Londrés.

I finished my tour at the Tate Modern, but you can continue on to go across the Millenium Bridge, which is just in front of the museum, and carry on towards St Paul‘s Cathedral and the «City« area. Another option is to do it in the opposite way and end at the Tower Bridge with a visit to the Tower of London.
